John asks…

This question is for bloggers who make money blogging?

I was wondering if someone can give me the info on how much money I can make blogging, also a website where I can start for free. I want to write and have people read it, but I cant do it for free, so can someone help? Thank you

deandist answers:

Sure, you can make good money blogging and it is easy to start for free, just sign up to www.blogger.com and set up a free account.

You now have a few choices, you can:

1.Earn from the Google Adsense Program
2. Promote an affiliate product
3. Sell your own product
4.Do a combination of the above

I have a perfect example of this, 3 days ago I created a Twitter Adder program and set up a free Google blog to promote it.

Here’s the site I made:

http://twitteradderpro.blogspot.com

I then created a Twitter account and using my software started to build a following. I then pomoted my product, but not aggressively, just the odd update and snippit of information I thought people might be interested in. By the end of the second day the orders started to come in and I got an amazing testimonial from one of my buyers. I think the reason why the testimonial was so good was that the guy couldn’t believe what he was getting for his money…I set out to provide value and achieved what will be a loyal, returning customer.

The secret is to write about something you are passionate and knowledgable about. If you can then create a Ebook on your subject then you can offer it for sale on your site. The ebook should be in PDF format and you can easily create one online using Google Docs.

As you can see, you can do it in a couple of days and promote the blog by using social networking sites like Twitter, Myspace, Facebook etc. You can also use forums in your niche to promote your product too.

I expect to make a couple of hundred dollars by the end of this week and will also have a recurring source of income.

I have some tutorials, free ebooks and software for bloggers on my website. I recommend you go there and learn everything you can.

It really isn’t hard to do, just be passionate about your subject, arouse your readers curiousity and make some money.

Good luck, you can do it :)

David asks…

Are there any ways for someone under 18 to make money blogging?

I was interested in starting my own blog, and heard about google adsense. I know I can’t use it because I am currently only 14. I don’t want to try to lie my way in by saying over 18. I’m just curious if there is something like that around for the underage crowd.

deandist answers:

Probably Not ):

Sharon asks…

Mark asks…

Is BlogHatter easy to use and will it help me make money blogging?

I’ve seen the promos for this program coming out in a few days. Just wondering if anyone has it yet (maybe someone that got it before it’s official live date) and does it work? I’m a blogger and I work with a lot of content, so this looks useful.

deandist answers:

Yes, I use it almost daily and can vouch for the program’s features and benefits. It makes uploading articles to my blogs 1000x easier! Instead of using the WP or Blogger interface, which is very manual and you have to do it one at a time, you can use BlogHatter to do it quickly. Read my BlogHatter review on my blog. I am offering some of the best BlogHatter bonus items, too.

Your Questions About Marketing Info

Sharon asks…

what is mark hoverson’s irresistible info-marketing blueprint?

i’ve heard about this new program coming out, but don’t know much about mark hoverson. it’s called irresistible info-marketing blueprint. anyone have any info on his background? is he a legitimate online marketer, or one of those guru types that sale you worthless programs over and over again?

deandist answers:

Mark Hoverson is an 8 figure online entrepreneur and has created this product for anyone that is interested in creating info products online. There will be 6 modules delivered over 6 weeks that will also contain bonuses. One of the modules that I thought was very interesting was How To Sell Webinars as Mark has said that this is where he makes the bulk of his income.

The first video he is offering, called “Caffeine Products” will show you how you can get quick cash by creating a product that offers a quick jolt – thus the title “Caffeine..” Caffeine products typically have a short shelf life – kind of like a product on Facebook marketing. This is bound to be short-lived since FB marketing changes frequently and what works today might not work in 3 months.

There is also a module called “Crop Products” which will show you how to create info products that have a longer shelf life and are usually sold over and over again with you creating the product just one time. You can see more of my review and all of the modules at http://josephjgomez.com.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Susan asks…

For privacy purposes, can you write disclosure terms on your check to avoid the payee from marketing your info

Banks and other companies use the reverse side of a check to print terms of cashing. Is this legal and if so, can I do the same thing? If not, why can those other entities do it?

deandist answers:

Sending a check to the company assumes that one has a current business relationship with that company and that company already knows your address, phone number and other information.

Use a money order for additional privacy and be aware that people have your information and it’s up to how much they wish to obey the law when dealing with your privacy.

Mark asks…

Anyone know where to get current horse marketing / business info?

I’m going to start working on a marketing plan for school. I wanna do it on a horse stable but I need to get a “broad” or “geographic regional” idea of the marketing situation: competitors, market analysis and trends. I’m focusing on an english type stable but western stuff will be helpful too.

deandist answers:

Being in Advertising / Marketing in the horse industry, I have alot of horse industry statistics that might be helpful to you. Here are a few: The majority of horses are in the eastern part of the country (there are even more horses in the eastern parts of Texas and Oklahoma than the western parts!). The last census information on total horse population in the US is 4,028,827 (horses and ponies).

Typical English rider = 87.5% are female, 53.6% are age 31 – 50, 43.8% are hunter/jumper.
Typical Western rider = 57.5% are female, 68.3% are age 31 – 50, 19.9% are show riders.
There are over twice as many Western riders than English riders.

Average horses owned 3 – 4, average number of horses at boarding facilities 10 – 20. An average of 68.05% keep their horses on their own property. 26.71% of people own 5 – 19 acres nad 19.78% own 20 – 99 acres and 8.93% own 100 acres or more (which leaves the balance owning under 5 acres and possibly boarding their horses due to lack of space). These figures are for the continental US.

Most people, when looking to build a barn, focus on functionality and safety. When choosing a builder they look for quality of materials and processes as well as final cost of the facility.

Typically, horse owners purchase their equine products at a variety of outlets: 77% from a feed store, 49% from a tack shop, 24% from a catalog and the balance is between pet superstore, online, auctions and local stables.

Hope that answers you question.

Sandy asks…

How does one get info on marketing and public relations contacts for famous firms?

My husband started a small publicity firm this year. I was wondering if anyone can give me ideas as to how to contact firms like Loreal, Coca Cola, Walmart, Baskin Robins, and others. I have made contact with some of their local publicity agents but they always just say they will present my material to their customer. I am almost sure they are not doing it. I want to present these companies my media without having to go through their agent. I see ads in local magazines and wonder how they get them to place their ads. I haven’t had any success yet. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

deandist answers:

So many people answer these questions that have absolutely no idea of what they are talking about.

My agency has many national and regional clients and I am assuming that you are asking how to get your husband work through large companies. It takes persistence and a good b to b marcom plan that will consist of direct mail that will grab their attention and make them know who you are when you follow up with your calls. Contact them each and every month until they know you. You then will be enough on a friendship level that they will allow you to meet with them and show them what you can do if the samples you have shown were impressive in any way.

Your other question. How do the little local mags get them to advertise in their paper. It is the other way around frequently. The media buyers for the company search out publications and ask them for their media kits which show the publications reader demographics. If they match well with their target they make a deal.

One of my clients owns a national syndicated radio show and he obtains clients from a sales person calling these large companies and telling them how they would be a great fit.

Here is the big one that gives away that these people answering these questions have no clue. How to get the marcom and pr exec lists. You buy it. There are tons of list broker companies out there. Lists cost like 6 cents a name. You would be a complete idiot to spend months building a list of key contact names and numbers. Anyone saying that has no clue what they are doing and I find it offensive that someone would even answer a question and respond by giving someone months of unnecessary work.

Your Questions About Digital Products Retailer

William asks…

Hello there, i wonder can anyone help me to check my essay grammar? I am a foreign student. thanks~?

My article is about game cultures, this article talks about how the cultural forces active in game production from three aspects: the economic system, the system of technology and the system of culture.
First of all, it gives some examples to show us the trend for computer games and PlayStation’s development. For example, Sony are major operators in the music and film business, but they are also produce PlayStation for many years. The Sony PSX enables the user to play PS2 games, record TV, copy audio, watch DVDs and connect online.
Beside Sony, Microsoft produce digital product as well. This article indicates that, Bill Gates and his work teams produced Xbox because Microsoft were very threatened by Sony dominance of the domestic digital domain, and computer games business is a powerful revenue generator within the global media and entertainment industries.
Recent technology releases have intensified the drive towards game platforms converging with other forms of media use. Kutaragi the CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment predicted of the PS3: “The next-generation PlayStation will probably take the form of a game box, though it will not be a mere game machine.” In early 2004 Microsoft released the Xbox Music mixer designed to expand the Xbox capabilities from DVD, online connectivity, and audio to karaoke performance. There was a competition between Microsoft and Sony to produce their next consoles. Microsoft have spent millions of dollars to get the Xbox 360 to market before the PS3.

This article also gives a statistics to show us that the games we get are generated by a highly sophisticated, highly capitalized media industry. When you buy a new console game, about 35% of the cover price of a console game goes back to the publisher and developer;as much as 30% stays with the retailer, 10% to the wholesaler and a further 10% on marketing, a final unique 15% on each disc is paid as a royalty to the platform manufacturer, like Sony or Microsoft. The 35% that returns to game publishers and producers there is both a cost and profit component, split roughly 50/50. Because of the longer established and more economically successful than any other digital media sector, more and more Media Studies scholars attend to the games industry.
This article talks about the economic system of game production from three parts, the developers, the publishers and the technologists.
First of all,
It describes the developers’ working environment: an open plan office, filled with young men hooked up to computers, many of them wearing headphones, an air of quiet concentration is broken by the occasional whoop of success. The phone almost never rings; communication is by text or email. Lunch is either sandwiches or cheese toasts. They don’t need to dress up. Their working environment seems more relaxed than any other creative media environment. This might look like it is only a description of a culture; but this culture is a function of economics. Because of such a working environment is in fact a highly systematized form of a new kind of global media enterprise.

1. A standard placement test has a mean of 115 and a standard deviation of 10. Determine the minimum sample size if we want to be 95% certain that we are within 3 points of the true mean.

2. Consumer Reports (January 2005) indicates that prot margins on extended warranties are much greater than on the purchase of most products. Consider a major electronics retailer that wishes to increase the proportion of customers who buy extended warranties on digital cameras. Historically, 20% of all digital camera customers have purchased the retailer‘s extended warranty. To increase this percentage, the retailer has decided to oer a new warranty that is less expensive and more comprehensive. Suppose that three months after starting to oer the new warranty, a random sample of 500 customer sales invoices shows that 152 out of 500 digital camera customers purchased the new warranty. Find a 95% condence interval for the proportion of all digital camera customers who have purchased the new warranty. Are we 95% condent that this proportion exceeds .20?

3. An article published in in the Journal of the American Medical Association calls smoking in China “a public health emergency.” The researchers found that smokers in China smoke an average of 16.5
cigarettes a day. The high smoking rate is one reason why the tobacco industry is the central government’s largest source of tax revenue. Has the average number of cigarettes smoked per day by Chinese smokers increased over the past two years? Consider that in a random sample of 200 Chinese smokers in 2002, the number of cigarettes smoked per day had a mean of 17.05 and a standard deviation of 5.21.

a. Set up the null and the alternative hypotheses for testing whether Chinese smokers smoke, on average,
more cigarettes a day in 2002 than in 1995.

b. Find the p-value.

4. The manufacturer of an over-the-counter analgesic claims that its product brings pain relief to headache suers in less than 3.5 minutes, on average. In order to be able to make this claim in its television advertisements, the manufactuer was required by a particular television network to present statistical evidence in support of the claim. The manufacturer reported that for a random sample of 50 headache suerers, the mean time to relief was 3.3 minutes and the standard deviation was 1.1 minutes.

a. Do these data support the manufacturer’s claim? Test using 5% signicance level.

b. Report the p-value of the test.

c. In general, do large p-values or small p-values support the manufacturer’s claim?
Shouls marketers use ads that appeal to children to sell adult products? One controversial advertisement campaign was Camel cigarettes’ use of the cartoon character “Joe Camel” as its brand symbol. A
marketring professor at University of New Hampshire, assessed young children’s abilities to recognize
cigarette brand advertising symbols. She found that 15 out of 28 children under the age of 6, and 46
out of 55 children age 6 and over recognized Joe Camel. Do the data indicate that recognition of Joe
Camel increases with age? Test using 5%.

5. A group of transfer bound students wondered if they will spend the same average amount on texts
and supplies each year at their four-year university as they have at their community college. They
conducted a random survey of 54 students at their community college and 66 students at their local
four-year university. The sample means were $947 and $1011, respectively. The population standard
deviations are known to be $254 and $87, respectively. Conduct a hypothesis test to determine if the
averages are statistically the same. Test at 1% level of signicane. What is the p-value?

6. Parents of teenage boys often complain that auto insurance costs more, on average, for teenage boys than for teenage girls. A group of concerned parents examines a random sample of insurance bills. The average annual cost for 36 teenage boys was $679. For 23 teenage girls, it was $559. From past years, it is known that the population standard deviation for each group is $180. Determine whether or not you believe that the average cost for auto insurance for teenage boys is greater than that for teenage girls. Test at 1% and nd the p-value.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO EVEN BEGIN TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED THANK YOU

deandist answers:

1. ANSWER: Sample Size = 43 for 95% level of confidence

Why???

SMALL SAMPLE, LEVEL OF CONFIDENCE, NORMAL POPULATION DISTRIBUTION

Margin of Error (half of confidence interval) = 3
The margin of error is defined as the “radius” (or half the width) of a confidence interval for a particular statistic.
Level of Confidence = 95
σ: population standard deviation = 10
(‘z critical value’) from Look-up Table for 95% = 1.96
The Look-up in the Table for the Standard Normal Distribution utilizes the Table’s cummulative ‘area’ feature. The Table shows positve and negative values of (‘z critical’) but since the Standard Normal Distribution is symmetric, only the magnitude of (‘z critical’) is important.

For a Level of Confidence = 95% the corresponding LEFT ‘area’ = 0.48. And due to Table’s symmetric nature, the corresponding RIGHT ‘area’ = 0.48 The (‘z critical’) value Look-up is 1.96

significant digits = 2

Margin of Error = (‘z critical value’) * σ/SQRT(n)
n = Sample Size

Algebraic solution for n:
n = [('z critical value') * σ/Margin of Error]²
= [ (1.96 * 10)/3 ]²

Sample Size = 43 for 95% level of confidence

Thanks a lot,

deandist answers:

1. All the parts look solid. If there is any way you can get a 6870 or even a 6950 do that. You can cut some corners and downgrade to 4GB of RAM or i5-2400 so you can keep it in budget.

2. Yeah it’s all fine.

3. It will be ok, but like I said you’ll be happier with 6870 or 6950. Your power supply can definitely handle crossfire of those cards.

Joseph asks…

Need help with assignment?

I was given the assignment to make a tows matrix using the swot analysis of an indian watch company ‘HMT’ Below is the swot analysis of HMT can anyone please make a tows matrix of swot analysis below.Best answer 10 pts :)

SWOT analysis of HMT:

Strengths:

Mechanical watches: HMT is the market leader in mechanical watches which serves to the lower segment of the society. HMT has a strong hold in this segment but to make sure that players like titan and timex do not occupy the stance HMT needs to do its homework.

Brand equity: HMT has a very strong brand image. People know HMT because of its quality and reliability.

Production and training facility: production facility is flexible enough to adapt to new technologies. Training program is one of the best in the country.

Industrial relations: company has very good industrial relations. Till today company did not encounter any kind of labor or industrial relations problem which can put company in to jeopardy.

Adequate assets: company has commensurate amount of land, building and machinery available.

Weaknesses:

No emphasis on R&D and design: HMT did not pay much attention to aesthetics and design. While its competitor titan kept innovating its products with latest technology, features and design, HMT was still grappling with its basic design models.

Retailer policy: HMT did not have control measures over its retailers; hence they lost control over prices and the trade.

Lack of team spirit and awareness: HMT’s motivational strategies-punishment/reward have been inadequate, resulting in low utilization of human and machine capacities.

Trade audits: No regular trade audit was being carried out by the company to check what was actually happening in the market.

Management levels: The ground level HMT staff has nearly six rungs of bureaucracy to go through before a general manager in sales or marketing could take a field decision.

Opportunities:

Diversification of products: there are good diversification possibilities in products. Apart from mechanical watches HMT can also focus on anadigi, digiana, multifunction, digital, stopwatch, alarm, thin etc.

Exports: export market can be tapped.

Market segmentation: company can expand the market launching products suitable for different customer profiles e.g.: youth, gift fashion, sports, novelty etc.

Enlarge network of sale outlets: An effective distribution system is mandatory for company’s success.

Product improvement: Company can manufacture product based on current customer preferences, combining technology and aesthetic appeal together to enhance the experience.

Threats:

From competitors: titan, timex, citizen, swatch etc.

Spurious operators: People who indulge in fraudulent activities. Misusing the brand name.

Authorized service agents: For foreign smuggled watches.

Regional players: With their cheap prices and availability.

Unorganized manufacturing.

deandist answers:

You really are kind of asking for your work to be done in this question. I mean, sure I can do it, but in taking my answer would you learn anything and be able to do it for yourself in any future case? No. The best way of understanding the four sectors of a TOWS matrix are to look for answers to these questions – use these to apply to your case and you should manage to get some answers out and thus benefit.

Strengths and Opportunities (SO) – How can you use your strengths to take advantage of the opportunities?

Strengths and Threats (ST) – How can you take advantage of your strengths to avoid real and potential threats?

Weaknesses and Opportunities (WO) – How can you use your opportunities to overcome the weaknesses you are experiencing?

Weaknesses and Threats (WT) – How can you minimize your weaknesses and avoid threats?
